Monoprint Class

Again its been a while, I do apologise. I don't know where to begin as theres been art-a-plenty. A couple to mention: I took a dress making class at Millie Moon Haberdashery www.milliemoonshop.co.uk and created a lovely 50's inspired dress with flamingo patterned fabric. I would love to make make make and especially with the stunning fabric at Millie Moon it would be easy to have a wardrobe full. I also had an eventful rainy day with my stall at Frome Art Carboot - the rain came tumbling down and then the wind decided to join in and our gazebo just took off and crumpled on us. Poor thing. I also have an exciting adventure heading this way in the near near future - I will try my very best to keep you informed. Watch this space.

Bye Bye Birdie

Here's a few snippets of the prints and the hand printed card range I have been working on. They are finally ready! The technique I use is monoprint with multi layering, basically anything goes and I just enjoy getting messy and sinking into the colours and texture. Each print is unique, no two are the same.

Widcombe Art Trail

Aaah its the day after the Widcombe Art Trail. I was crossing my fingers (and toes) for a sunny Sunday but no avail the rain came down and it was wet wet wet. My pretty brogues were soaked through. Still good fun meeting other artists and those brave enough to come out and seek out the art.

Felt is fab!!

I never thought I would ever say the words 'felt is fab'. When I was a little one, all those years ago, I used to utterly dislike felt: I used to dislike the way it was simple and how it was odd to the touch, sort of like a squeeky rough cotton wool, and most of all I disliked all those stick-on-felt pictures!! Now however I think felt has possibly won me over. It is so easy to use and the colours are endless, and there is just no better material when crafting with kids.

I have once again been conjuring up exciting projects for all those little (and big) creative fingers out there, and with Easter fast approaching what better way to spend an hour or two than making funky felt egg cosies. Be the envy of any breakfast table.

Crafty year ahead............

Well time certainly goes by quickily when you are having fun and creating lots. This year I am determined to take part in even more crafty adventures, if thats possible, along with getting back into the print studio.
In January, I learnt how to make a patchwork quilt at Millie Moon with our own Caroline Francis-Payne. It felt lovely to be on the other side and get taught, and even though my quilt is not completely finished I had an absolutely lovely day. With all the tea, bright fabric and lovely chatter I found I could not stop smiling!!
This month I am being taught how to book bind by Kate Bernstein and I am having a ball:) Kate is a book artist who uses traditional methods to push the boundaries of the 'book.' I'm soaking in all the basics and I even find myself wigglying any paper I come into contact with just so I can say 'the grain is running this way.' Am I mad, lol. Today I finally managed to conquer corners. Okay, some of them are still fat but at least I can do them now.
